Curasorb dressings manufactured by Kendall for Covidien are dressings designed to interact with sodium in wounds to create an ionic exchange and help jump-start the epitheliazation process. The dressing is able to absorb 20 times its weight in exuduate and is able to be removed with minimal tissue trauma. The dressing creates a protective gel barrier between the dressing and the wound which promotes vertical wicking which more efficiently pulls moisture through the dressing. Additionally, the dressing has a high level of calcium to boosts homeostasis.
